Strict Maths Teacher

The bell rang, signaling the end of the last period. The students in class 10B quickly gathered their belongings and headed for the door, eager to enjoy their lunch break. All except one: Rajesh, the star striker of the school soccer team. He remained seated at his desk, his head bowed and his hands clasped. He knew he was in trouble.

He had been caught cheating on a math test by Mr. Sharma, the strictest teacher in the school. Mr. Sharma had been monitoring the class from the back of the room, and had noticed Rajesh glancing at his neighbor's paper several times. He had silently walked up to Rajesh's desk, snatched his test paper, and written a big red zero on it. Then he had grabbed Rajesh by his ears and dragged him to the front of the class, where he proceeded to scold him in front of everyone.

"How dare you cheat on my test, Rajesh? You think you are too smart for math? You think you can get away with anything because you play soccer? You are a disgrace to this school and to yourself. You should be ashamed of yourself. Do you have any idea how much this will affect your future? Do you want to end up as a failure in life?"

Mr. Sharma's words stung Rajesh like a whip. He felt a surge of pain, anger, and humiliation. He wanted to scream, to cry, to run away. But he couldn't. He was trapped by Mr. Sharma's grip on his ears, which felt like a vice. He could feel his ears burning and turning red from the pressure. He could also feel the eyes of his classmates on him, some of them pitying, some of them mocking, some of them indifferent. He wished he could disappear.

He tried to mumble an apology, but Mr. Sharma cut him off.

"Save your excuses, Rajesh. You have no one to blame but yourself. You have let down your parents, your teachers, your friends, and your team. You have wasted your talent and your potential. You have shown no respect for yourself or for others. You have broken the rules and the trust of this school. You deserve to be punished."

Mr. Sharma then announced that Rajesh would be suspended from the soccer team for the rest of the season, and that he would have to repeat the math course. He also said that he would inform Rajesh's parents and the principal of his misconduct. He then released Rajesh's ears and ordered him to go to the office.

Rajesh felt a wave of relief as he was freed from Mr. Sharma's hold. He quickly grabbed his backpack and ran out of the classroom, ignoring the whispers and stares of his classmates. He felt tears streaming down his face as he ran. He felt like his world had collapsed. He had lost everything that mattered to him: his grades, his reputation, his passion, his dreams. He had no idea how he would face his parents, his friends, his coach, or himself. He felt like he had no future.

He wished he had never cheated on the test.
